Sugar Export Ban Implemented In The Middle Of Supply Problems
New Delhi– The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has provided an instant ban on the export of raw, white, and polished sugar, efficient until September 30 th.
- Reason: Inflation and potential supply shortages intensified by the continuous dispute in West Asia.
- Exemptions: Exports to the EU and the US under special allocations, breakthrough permission schemes, and government-to-government exports.
- Manufacturing: Sugar manufacturing for the 2025 – 26 period is estimated at 27 5 million tonnes.
- Precautionary Measure: The ban aims to ensure sufficient residential sugar materials in the middle of unpredictabilities concerning future manufacturing and fertilizer accessibility.
