Owaisi Opposes Statutory Security for ‘Vande Mataram’
Hyderabad: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has voiced strong objections to the Union Cupboard’s decision to provide ‘Vande Mataram’ statutory security matching to the national anthem.
- Owaisi says ‘Vande Mataram’ is an ode to a goddess, contravening India’s nonreligious principles.
- He mentioned that the nation does not run in the name of a god or goddess and it does not belong to one god or siren.
- He pointed out historical numbers that reportedly denied the song.
Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao slammed Owaisi’s stance, charging AIMIM of seeing social assimilation as a danger to spiritual exclusivism and nationwide cohesion. The Union Closet’s decision aims to amend the Avoidance of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, making blockage of ‘Vande Mataram’ a punishable offense.
