CAG Flags Monetary Abnormalities in Maharashtra Governance

Mumbai– The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has recognized significant “systemic shortages” in Maharashtra’s governance. The report, recently tabled, disclosed 891 crore in potential economic abnormalities as a result of disregarded audit queries.

  • Key Finding: Over 10, 000 audit inquiries stay unanswered across various divisions, some going back over a years.
  • Backlog: As of June 2023, 2, 408 Evaluation Reports (IRs) having 10, 340 paragraphs were pending settlement.
  • Market Impact: Public works, water, sanitation, and road & & bridge fields make up the highest pendency.
  • Accountability Problems: The CAG slams the delay in submitting activity kept in mind, undermining responsibility.
