Chief executive policeman of Telegram Pavel Durov was jailed at a flight terminal on Saturday evening outside Paris and put captive for supposed offenses associated with the messaging application, according to French media.
The 39-year-old Russian- birthed billionaire was charged of falling short to reduce the abuse of his system for criminal tasks. France’s OFMIN, which is in charge of guarding minors from physical violence, released an apprehension warrant for Durov over complaints of the mob, medicine trafficking, scams, cyberbullying, and the promo of terrorism, information firm AFP reported mentioning a resource.
The messaging application, which has about 800 million users, is popular in Russia along with Ukraine.
Following information of Durov’s apprehension, Russia’s embassy in France said it had “immediately asked the French authorities for clarification of the reasons and demanded to ensure the protection of his rights and provide consular access.” The message uploaded on Telegram stated the consular office authorities touched with Durov’s attorney.
