AUSTIN (KXAN)– A suspect was apprehended in link to “an act of racial bias” reported at Texas State University in September, Chief Matthew Carmichael with the TXST University Police Department claimed in an e-mail shared to the college’s web site.
The record of the “racial bias” occurred onSept 28. University President Kelly Damphousse claimed onOct 4 in an e-mail shared to the college’s web site there was a “racial slur keyed into a student’s car.”
The suspect, that was not recognized Monday, was billed with criminal mischievousness, which is a state prison felony, Carmichael claimed. A Title IX examination is continuous with the college, so college cops claimed they can not share extra information.
“This hateful act is deeply disturbing to me because it runs counter to what I know to be TXST’s core values. Our campus leaders, faculty, staff, and I remain committed to ensuring the safety, protection, and well-being of every member of our university community,” Damphouse created on the school web siteOct 4.
