Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Monday routed the united state Army to transform the name of Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg, yet with a spin.
Hegseth authorized a memorandum aboard a UNITED STATE Air Force C-17 prior to touchdown in Stuttgart, Germany, buying the renaming of the North Carolina base to Fort Roland L. Bragg, not the Confederate basic that was the previous name.

The name of the armed forces setup was transformed in 2023 as component of a wide Department of Defense effort, inspired by the 2020 George Floyd demonstrations, to relabel armed forces setups birthing the name of Confederate soldiers.

The armed forces setup is among the biggest on the planet and is home to the Army’s famous 82nd Airborne Division and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
“The directive honors the personal courage and selfless service of all those who have trained to fight and win our nation’s wars, including PFC. Bragg, and is in keeping with the installation’s esteemed and storied history,” the memorandum stated.
In enhancement to the North Carolina base, a number of various other Army messages were relabelled, consisting of Fort Benning, home to the Army’s infantry college, to Fort Moore, after the lateLt Gen.
