More than 100 Post Office branches may shut below a significant overhaul introduced by the group on Wednesday.
The Post Office revealed it’s trying to offload round 115 directly-owned branches inside its 11,500-strong community, which may see them transferred to retail companions or postmasters, or probably closed.
Around 1,000 employees employed throughout the branches may discover their roles in danger, with the Post Office confirming that a whole lot of additional jobs are below risk as its headquarters appears to be like to streamline workplace operations.
A Post Office spokesperson mentioned: “We are considering a range of options to reduce our central costs.
“This includes considering the future of our remaining Directly Managed Branches, which are loss-making.
“We have long held a publicly-stated ambition to move to a fully franchised network and we are in dialogue with the unions about future options for the DMBs.”
