Registrations of brand-new vehicles dropped by 2.5% last month, numbers reveal.
Industry body the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) stated 139,345 brand-new vehicles were signed up in the UK in January.
That compares to 142,876 throughout the exact same month in 2015.
The autumn was driven by a 15.3% decrease in shipments of gasoline vehicles.
There was a 41.6% spike in the uptake of pure battery electrical vehicles, causing a market share of 21.3%.
