“Within the team, it has been great to have loads of team bonding and lots of sessions of fun and getting to know each other, and to enjoy each other’s company and be friends.

“Some of the best teammates are the ones you enjoy spending time with off the court.”

Mavericks are likewise taking netball to brand-new places with the group having fun in Essex and Brighton in addition to their Hertfordshire heartland.

“But we also know there are teams we are going to have to play and learn on the spot. We have to be able to adapt so we are trying not to play ‘traditional’ netball as such.

“We are trying to create new ways and new opportunities to get to goal and bring a little bit of flair as well.”
