World primary Luke Humphries maintained his Players Championship Finals title with an 11-7 success over teen Luke Littler in Minehead.
Littler, that won the Grand Slam of Darts recently, struck check outs of 170, 164 and 136 as he endangered to rescind a very early shortage, yet Humphries held his nerve to win the last 3 legs.
âIâm really, really proud of that one to be honest,â Humphries informed Sky Sports.

âI didnât feel myself this week playing-wise, I felt like I was a dart behind in a lot of the scenarios but thereâs something that Luke does to you. He really drives me, makes me want to be a better player and I enjoy playing him.
âHe let me in really early in that first session to go 4-1 up, I never looked back and Iâm proud that I didnât take my foot off the gas. These big games are what I live for.
âLuke is a special talent and he was right â I said to him Iâve got to get these (titles) early before he wins them all.
âIâd love to be up here and hitting 105 averages like Luke is all the time but heâs a different calibre, heâs probably the best player in the world right now but thereâs something about me that never gives up.
âThis is a great way to go into the worlds.â
Littler, that shed the globe champion last to Humphries in 2015, stated: âIt was tough, missed a few doubles and if you donât take chances early on, itâs a lot to come back.
âI hit the 170 and the 164 but just didnât have enough in the end.
âItâs been a good past two weeks. I just canât wait to go home, chill out, obviously practice at home for the worlds. Thatâs it now, leading up to the big one.â
