ROME (Reuters) – The Italian federal government agrees to collaborate with Stellantis NV on the carmaker’s future approach supplied it maintains tasks and manufacturing facilities in the nation, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claimed on Sunday.
“We evaluate the economic cases on their own merits,” Meloni informed an occasion of her Brothers of Italy celebration in Rome in advance of aDec 17 conference on the Italian automobile sector, which will certainly include Industry Minister Adolfo Urso, the car manufacturer’s agents and neighborhood unions.
“This is as true for Stellantis as it is for any other company operating in Italy. If the approach is constructive, if there is a willingness to maintain factories and jobs, we will be ready to do our part.”
After the sudden resignation of Carlos Tavares as chief executive officer this month, Rome wishes to fix its stretched connections with the carmaker, which has 14 brand names consisting of Jeep, Ram, Fiat and Peugeot.
Italian political leaders repetitively implicated Tavares of overlooking historical production websites and relocating manufacturing abroad.
