Fresh clashes at Howrah Maidan, cop harmed


Kolkata: Fresh clashes burst out in between cops and activists on GT Road in Howrah Maidan location when they attempted to march in the direction of the state secretariat as a component of their ‘Nabanna Abhijaan’ on Tuesday mid-day.

Police lathi-charged and pre-owned water cannons and tear gas to spread activists that tossed rocks and blocks at the protection pressures and tried to fall barriers obstructing their method to the state secretariat.

A cop, that recognized himself as the in-charge of Chanditala police headquarters in Howrah Police Commissionerate, was harmed in the clash.

A comparable scenario unravelled in Hastings and MG Road location, where activists tossed rocks at cops, that were seen chasing them away.

“Why were we defeated by cops? We did not damage any type of regulations. We are holding a calm rally to require justice for the departed medical professional. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ought to take obligation and surrender,” claimed a lady militant.

The activists were trying to get to the state secretariat, Nabanna, to require the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the rape-murder of a medical professional at R G Kar Medical College.

Police claimed they started lathicharging and tear gassing after the agitators breached barriers at some places and struck protection workers.

Earlier in the day, cops turned to lathi-charge and pre-owned water cannons and tear gas to spread agitators at Howrah Bridge’s Kolkata end and near Santragachhi Railway terminal on Kona Expressway as activists tried to appear cops barriers in an initiative to get to Nabanna.

At Santragachhi, agitators tossed blocks at cops, harming a number of police officers, while activists declared that cops activity likewise harmed a number of trainees.

Trouble rose when the pupil organisation, ‘Paschim Banga Chhatra Samaj’, and the unorthodox state civil servant’ system ‘Sangrami Joutha Mancha’ started their ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ rally from numerous factors.
