Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated the food shipment economic situation is extremely crucial for India as it produces largescale work.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday highlighted the crucial function of India’s food shipment economic situation in driving large job opportunity.
Speaking at Zomato’s ‘Sustainability and Inclusivity: Role of the Platform Economy’ meeting, the Road Transport and Highways Minister kept in mind that India presently has 77 lakh shipment employees, a number predicted to increase to 2.5 crore by 2030.
“Creating work for 2.5 crore young people is a significant success for our nation. Job development stays our highest possible concern,” Gadkari emphasised.
Role in Employment Generation
Gadkari applauded the online food delivery platform Zomato for its efforts in providing job opportunities to unemployed youth across the country. He described this as a critical contribution toward addressing unemployment challenges.
Road Safety Concerns for Delivery Workers
While praising the employment opportunities, Gadkari expressed concerns over road safety issues faced by delivery workers. He noted that the urgency of time-bound deliveries increases their risk of accidents.
“India witnesses 45 road accidents and 20 deaths every hour, with most victims aged 18 to 45 years,” the priest stated. He included that two-wheeler mishaps alone represent 80,000 fatalities every year, with 55,000 deaths triggered by the non-usage of headgears.
Additionally, Gadkari highlighted that 10,000 fatalities take place yearly because of driving on the incorrect side.
Emphasis on Training and Safety Measures
Gadkari worried that roadway mishaps can be substantially lowered with correct safety and security training. He praised Zomato for training 50,000 vehicle drivers, calling it a good action towards enhancing roadway safety and security requirements.
“Such efforts can play a crucial function in conserving lives and making roadways more secure for all,” he included.
