Unidentified drones seen over UK airbases– United States Air Force– DW– 11/24/2024

The United States Air Force (USAF) claimed that a variety of tiny unknown drones were found around 3 airbases in the United Kingdom over the previous week.

The United States Air Forces in Europe claimed “small unmanned aerial systems” were seen over Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell, in Norfolk, eastern England.

Unclear whether drones were aggressive

The events occurred in between November 20 and 22 and it was unclear whether the drones had any type of aggressive intent.

“The UASs were actively monitored and installation leaders determined that none of the incursions impacted base residents or critical infrastructure,” the flying force claimed.

“To protect operational security, we do not discuss our specific force protection measures but retain the right to protect the installation. We continue to monitor our airspace and are working with host-nation authorities and mission partners to ensure the safety of base personnel, facilities and assets.”

Lakenheath houses the 48th Fighter Wing, which the USAF refers to as the structure of its fight ability in Europe.

Nearby Mildenhall holds the 100th Air Refueling Wing while Feltwell is a center for real estate, institutions and various other solutions.

The discoveries occurred in the exact same week that Ukraine struck targets inside Russia with intermediate-range rockets provided by the United States and Britain after President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Keir Starmer licensed use the tools.
