Venezuelan resistance leader Edmundo Gonzalez on Wednesday stated he was compelled to authorize a letter approving a judgment from the nation’s leading court which identified President Nicolas Maduro’s success in the July political election.
Gonzales, that is currently in expatriation in Spain, stated Maduro’s allies showed up when he went to the Spanish consular office in Caracas.
“They showed up with a document that I would have to sign to allow my departure from the country,” Gonzalez stated.
“In other words, either I signed or I would face consequences. There were very tense hours of coercion, blackmail and pressure.”
Caracas counters
Gonzales stated Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and her bro Jorge Rodriguez, head of state of the National Assembly, were the ones that compelled him to authorize the letter.
However, hours later on, Rodriguez shot down these insurance claims in a telecasted address in which he branded the authorized file.
“If you don’t deny that in 24 hours, I’m going to release the audio, it’s up to you, Mr. Gonzalez,” Rodriguez stated, describing the conference.
Venezuela’s political election still contested
The United States has actually identified Gonzales as the victor of the political election.
Meanwhile, Spain and various other participants of the European Union have actually contradicted Maduro as the victor.
