Employees at a price cut grocery store chain in Germany discovered 95 kgs (210 extra pounds) of drug stowed away inside cages of bananas, cops introduced on Monday.
The medicines are reported to have a road worth of around EUR7 million ($ 7.8 million).
Police did not call the grocery store concerned, however claimed the medicines showed up in numerous cities around the western state of North-Rhine Westphalia
How did drug wind up amongst bananas?
Bricks of drug were initial found by employees at 2 of the price cut chain’s shops in Mönchengladbach on September 10.
Later that day, drug was likewise discovered at the chain’s shops in the close-by cities of Duisburg, Krefeld, Viersen, Heinsberg and Neuss.
“The investigators are working on the assumption that the food discounter was not the correct recipient for the delivery, but received the goods in error,” Mönchengladbach cops claimed in a declaration.
Police think the delivery came from South America and came to the Belgian port of Antwerp prior to being carried to the grocery store’s circulation stockroom in Germany.
