Councillor that took city IT tailor to Russia ‘did not have carefulness’: Gatineau mayor

The mayor of Gatineau, Que., is faulting a city councillor for taking a trip to Russia with local IT devices, though she guaranteed press reporters that city systems do not show up to have actually been endangered.

Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette replied to the dispute aroundCoun Mike Duggan’s journey, initially reported by Le Droit onMonday She did not disclose the nature of the devices, stating that an “analysis” of the scenario is recurring.

“I think that Mr. Duggan lacked prudence in this choice he made to go onto Russian territory with city IT material,” she claimed in French on Monday.

In a sms message exchange with Radio-Canada, Duggan decreased a meeting and neither verified neither rejected making a journey to Russia.

Marquis-Bissonnette claimed the city has methods to stop invasion right into its IT systems. She claimed the city acted “promptly,” which Duggan turned over the product and is co-operating with city workers.

“What seems to be demonstrated is that the servers of the city have not been compromised by the situation,” Marquis-Bissonnette verified.

Global Affairs Canada encourages Canadians versus all traveling to Russia because of the influences of the armed problem with Ukraine and the threat of terrorism.

Duggan is the councillor for Pointe-Gatineau and rests on numerous city boards, consisting of the audit board and financing board.

In 2022, Duggan claimed in council chambers that “certain members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are engaging in a war against Russia on Ukrainian soil.”
