Shah Alam lake to shut during the night up until croc’s capture

SHAH Alam City Council (MBSA) will briefly shut the location around the lake at Tasik Seksyen 7 up until a crocodile supposedly viewed there has actually been captured.

“The closure will certainly begin with 8pm on Wednesday (Sept 4) up until 7am the following day.

“The closure will be from 8pm until 7am daily, until the crocodile is caught,” the MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Department said in a statement.

“The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) is carrying out the operation to catch the crocodile.”

MBSA said the temporary closure will involve recreational activities such as jogging, as well as trading activities during the stipulated time. Fishing is strictly prohibited.

“Food stall operators are still allowed to operate as usual but have to end their business operations by 7pm.

“This measure is taken to ensure a quieter environment during the operation and to ensure public safety to prevent any unwanted incidents.

“Perhilitan Selangor has set up two traps at Tasik Seksyen 7, Shah Alam. MBSA is assisting by installing nets in five water channels to prevent the crocodile from escaping.

“Visitors are advised to exercise caution when in the lake’s vicinity until the operation to capture the crocodile is completed.”

MBSA is working closely with Perhilitan Selangor on the operation, following a crocodile sighting that was posted on social media.
