RAMADAN bazaar whole lots at Kuala Lumpur’s Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Lorong TAR) are still being marketed at a greater rate, states Federation of Hawkers and Traders Association of Malaysia head of state Datuk Seri Rosli Sulaiman.
He claimed 20% of the 216 whole lots at the fair was marketed, going with as high as RM12,000.
“The organization participants had actually kept track of the whole lots for a number of days and we located that there are 2 brokers re-selling the whole lots varying from RM8,000 to RM12,000.
“Additionally, there are 2 people that possessed 2 whole lots specifically, marketed their whole lots varying from RM7,000 to RM12,000,” he claimed.
“This is still happening despite Kuala Lumpur City Hall handling the licence application for Ramadan bazaars in Kuala Lumpur this year.
“I urge the authorities to nip this problem in the bud,” he said at a press conference on Thursday (March 13).
On Jan 23, The Star reported that City Hall will fully handle licence applications and maintenance of Ramadan Bazaars in Kuala Lumpur starting this year to ensure reasonable rental fees for stalls and better management.
Rosli claimed his organization had actually kept track of the scenario at Lorong TAR and collected proof of the misdeeds.
“We had lodged a report at the Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Feb 24 and subsequently an MACC officer from Putrajaya met with us on Feb 28.
“We assisted the officer in the investigation.
“After that, we gathered information and evidence on the identity of the broker and those reselling their lots.
“We then lodged a police report on March 12 at the Jinjang police station on the reselling of bazaar lots,” claimed Rosli, that is likewise head of state of Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Bumiputera Traders and Hawkers Association.
