‘A Collection of Peng Shih Lin’s Artwork’, a homage to the late poet, author, musician

The multilingual collection, provided in both Mandarin and English, was modified by the late Dr Lee Kean Yau, a previous speaker in Chinese Literature at New Era College & & University.

The 183-page publication attributes pictures and around 100 items of Peng’s job, consisting of calligraphy, rhymes, paints, and Chinese seals.

Born in Hunan, China, in 1923, the prominent educationist, author, calligrapher, and musician, transferred to Ipoh, Perak, in 1950 after weding tin miner Leong Sam Yuan.

She educated Chinese literary works at SMJK Perempuan Perak (previously Perak Girls’ School) and later on worked as its headmistress from 1954 to 1978.

A mommy of 5, she was likewise a consultant to the Malaysian Calligraphy Association.

“There were no ideal expressions to share the initial significances, so Dr Lee needed to look for the closest analyses,” he said.

The book launch, held at Oasis Corporate Park, Petaling Jaya, was officiated by Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong.

The event also gathered close acquaintances, students, and friends of Peng, who shared memories of the esteemed scholar.

The Writer’s Association of Chinese Medium of Malaysia chairman Prof Fan Pik Wah said the book played an important role in cultural heritage and inheritance.
