FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Factory closures would certainly be an incorrect step by Volkswagen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz claimed, including that Europe’s biggest carmaker had an obligation to its staff members.
Volkswagen remains in a bitter disagreement with personnel over pay cuts and feasible plant closures focused on responding to high prices in Germany and greatly less expensive Asian opponents going into Europe.
Both sides enter into a 4th round of arrangements on Monday.
“Specific decisions will be negotiated between the owners and labour representatives. My opinion is clear: closing locations would not be the right way to go,” Scholz informed the Funke Media Group.
“It would not be right because poor management decisions have contributed to the difficult situation,” he included.
The state of Lower Saxony is Volkswagen’s second-largest investor, and its state premier, like Scholz, has actually prompted the team to stay clear of website closures.
