New York companies need to currently provide paid clinical leave while pregnant


ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)– Pregnant New Yorkers will certainly be qualified to a minimum of 20 hours of paid leave to go to prenatal clinical visits under a legislation that worked Wednesday.

Gov Kathy Hochul claimed the plan makes New York the very first state in the nation to provide paid leave for prenatal treatment.

All expectant employees in the economic sector are qualified for the paid pause. Workers can arrange the paid leave for pregnancy-related clinical visits such as checkups, end of maternity treatment and fertility therapies, to name a few points.

Hochul pushed for the measure in the state’s last legal session as a method to help in reducing maternal and infant deaths in New York.

“No pregnant woman in New York should be forced to choose between a paycheck and a check-up — and that’s why I pushed to create the nation’s first paid prenatal leave policy,” Hochul claimed in a declaration last month.

Employers are restricted from asking for clinical info when an employee demands the prenatal paid leave. The plan is different from any type of various other paid authorized leave provided by a company. Spouses of expectant ladies are not qualified for the prenatal leave.
