France’s Macron backs Ethiopia’s financial debt restructuring initiatives


ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron revealed complete assistance on Saturday for Ethiopia’s financial debt restructuring initiatives, stressing the requirement for a speedy resolution “in the coming weeks”.

The support from Macron, that is going to Ethiopia after a drop in Djibouti, follows Ethiopia and International Monetary Fund got to an arrangement last month on the 2nd testimonial of a $3.4 billion funding program.

“Thanks to your commitment to the reform programme you are leading, we aim to complete the restructuring of this 3 billion-euro debt in the next few weeks,” Macron stated throughout a joint interview with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

He included that France totally sustains the conversations underway with the IMF, highlighting a vital conference set up for mid-January
