“They jump into eucalyptus trees and get pollen on their fur and then go to another eucalyptus tree and pollinate it,” she said. “If their populations decline drastically we’ll start to see the trees they pollinate not producing as much nectar. A lot of creatures rely on that nectar.”

A decline in trees will also affect other native species like koalas, who already face serious challenges due to habitat destruction.
