New modelling from the Housing Industry Association (HIA) found more than 83,000 extra tradies are “urgently needed” to achieve Australia’s target of building 1.2 million homes over the next five years.
That’s on top of the 278,000 workers currently employed.
There were 24,545 people who completed their apprenticeship last year and that’s fallen to 22,420 in 12 months.
